Thai Consulate in Los Angeles and UCLA hosted a Thai Cultural Night

On 9 December 2023, Royal Thai Consulate-General, Los Angeles, together with Department of Ethnomusicology, UCLA, hosted a Thai Cultural Night at Schoenberg Hall to showcase Thai traditional dance and music, on the occasion of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Birthday Anniversary of the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, and the celebration of the 190th Anniversary of Thai – U.S. Diplomatic Relations. The event was well attended by more than 400 guests including consular corps in Los Angeles, friends of Thailand, and general public.
 
Consul-General Tor Saralamba gave a remarks addressing the close and cordial ties between Thailand and the U.S. from the past until today which reflects on several royal visits of the members of the Thai Royal Family to the U.S., as well as exchange of visits between leaders of the two countries. He took this opportunity to assure that the long-standing relations between the two countries will be further enhanced in various areas including economy, trade, investment, innovation, and sustainable development. Also, the cultural event tonight would be able to promote better understanding between peoples of the two nations.
 
In this occasion, Consul-General Tor expressed his appreciation toward the Department of Ethnomusicology, UCLA for kind partnership in hosting the event, as well as to Thai performers and musicians from the Department of Fine Arts, Thailand and from Thai community of Los Angeles who actively joined the show.
 
The Thai Cultural Night presented Thai elegance of Khon masked dance drama “Chasing the Golden Deer Episode” and “Chasing the Golden Fish Episode”, as well as uniqueness of folk dances from four regions of Thailand showcasing delicacy, beauty, and fun.
